I would like to know how best to get rid of ovarian cysts and treatment for endometriosis. I have a constant pain in my lower abdomen and scan results keep showing the my uterus is normal, my tubes are not blocked and no fibroid. My doctor can’t seem to place why I’m having the pains. Though I had to abort a pregnancy about five years ago. Since then, I’ve not had sex until when I recently got married a year and half ago.I’ve been trying to get pregnant ever since but to no avail. So, I’m just wondering if I could try prescriptions for these instead ie ovarian cyst and endometriosis. If my problem isn’t any of these, could it be that my husband and I are not compatible? What does it mean when they say couples are compatible or incompatible?
During a young woman’s early years of menstruating, ovulation may coincide with a small amount of bleeding where the follicle has ruptured to release the egg. This can cause abdominal pain, often with a slight fever, at the time of ovulation (in the middle days between periods) and is commonly called mittelschmerz (German for "middle" and "pain"). Treatment might consist only of some ibuprofen, reassurance, rest and perhaps a warm pack. It is unlikely to recur and portends no future problems.
Later in life, usually after their midthirties, women sometimes develop an ovarian cyst that may not cause any symptoms, or it may cause pelvic pain from mild to severe. The cyst may simply collapse and disappear after a month or two, or it may persist and increase in size and discomfort during succeeding months. Such cysts are caused by a failed ovulation in which, for reasons presently unknown, the ovulation did not proceed to completion. With each succeeding month’s surge of LH, the cyst swells and stretches the surface membrane, causing pain and possible bleeding at the site. Some cysts become as large as a golf ball or lemon before discovery. Treatment may require surgery. (Removing the ovary along with the cyst used to be the standard procedure, but I recommend asking your surgeon to leave the ovary intact if at all possible.)
I have an ovarian cyst on my right ovary and it’s become extremely painful.
I went to the emergency room ( as I have no health insurance) and the doctors told me
they couldn’t do anything for me.
Is there a way to cure it? I fear that it will rupture, plus I’m having extremely heavy bleeding (menstrual) it’s been this way since January.
Well I’m no doctor but I do take human cellular biology in university so what I’m about to tell you probably means nothing but it’s worth a try. The cyst is swelling and the pain is caused by inflammation of the soft tissue surrounding the cyst, namely, the ovarian wall. What you need is a combination analgesic and anti-inflammatory medicine. Try these in this order from weakest to strongest:
Don’t bother with brand names, get whatever has the drug in it that costs less because they’re all the same. To help with that, I’m going to post their generic names with brand names in parenthesis in case there is no generic in the USA. Take the maximum dose that the bottles allow and if there is an extra-strength version, get it.
1. ASA (Aspirin) – least expensive
2. Ibuprofen (Advil, Nuprin) – moderate
3. Naproxen Sodium (Alleve) – most expensive
If those three fail, ask your doctor if he/she will prescribe you Ketoprofen.
These drugs should reduce the swelling caused by inflammation as well as eradicating the pain. You might want to not take the ASA until your period is over because it is a natural blood-thinner and the last thing you want is to bleed more. Get them at Costco if you can because they have amazing prices on meds like that and I know for a fact that they have their own generic versions of both ASA and Ibuprofen that cost less than 1/3 what the brand-name crap costs and I can personally attest to their effectiveness (Especially the Ibuprofen) because I used them for both Mononucleosis and the pain I was in after all my wisdom teeth were extracted. (Apparently, there were complications)
This is an idea for a remedy, I have no clue about curing them. I don’t really know much about Ovarian Cysts (being male and all…lol) and being Canadian, I have no idea what surgery costs. I do know that you pay triple what I do for prescription medicine but I don’t know what you pay for off-the-shelf or over-the-counter medicine. As a result, I listed the drugs from cheapest to most expensive. Try them in that order and you’re guaranteed not to pay more than you need to. If I were you, I’d take a vacation to the UK. They’ve been known to treat non-Britons in need.
I am 13 weeks pregnant with an 8cm ovarian cyst. I hope to avoid surgery during pregnancy, and want to know what I can do to try to lessen my chances of a twisted or ruptured cyst.
I am especially curious about women who have had complications? What were you doing when the cyst twisted or ruptured?
Bending could possibly affect a cyst such as by rupture (an example only) depending on how much bending you do. A fall could also possibly affect a cyst (another example only).
I would recommend checking with your OB/GYN as well when you go in for your next check-up to see what they say.
In the mean time here’s the link to a site that might help you find even more information. The link is at: http://forums.obgyn.net/pregnancy-birth

What does this mean? I have been on birth control pills for the past 5 years and am 20 years old. I had pain and that is what led me to the doctor. What will the likely course of treatment be? Im worried because female problems run all throughout my family and I do plan on having children in a few years. I cannot see my ob/gyn for another 2 weeks :/ any help is appreciated!
I have horrible cysts on my ovaries. Good news – it won’t affect your fertility. Bad news – they hurt like hell if they get big (which is pretty rare).
Ovarian cysts are actually pretty common, but most are so small they go unnoticed and they just pop on their own. Yours are probably slightly larger than normal, which is why you feel them. Generally speaking, they are not dangerous. I had to have one removed surgically this year, but it was over 10 cm and extremely painful.
They may switch your birth control to a higher dose of estrogen, which will help prevent the occurrence of cysts and also the size of those that do grow will be smaller. Other than that, the most typical treatment is just pain medication as needed.
