What are ovarian cysts?

Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled, sac-like structures within an ovary. The term cyst refers to a fluid-filled structure. Therefore, all ovarian cysts contain at least some fluid.

What symptoms are caused by ovarian cysts?

Most cysts are never noticed and resolve without women ever realizing that they are there. When a cyst causes symptoms, pain in the belly or pelvis is by far the most common one. The pain can be caused from rupture of the cyst, rapid growth and stretching, bleeding into the cyst, or twisting of the cyst around its blood supply.

Your Doctor would have to determine what treatment you would need, most Ovarian cysts will re-absorb into the body although it is possible they can become painful or harmful depending on your situation. The link above should give you the information you need. Good luck!

has anyone of you received treatment for an ovarian cyst?

what treatment did you receive? did it work?
wow i was just diagnosed with one and i am a little scared about what they are going to do to me…

I had a hysterectomy 16yrs ago ( I think maybe 15) anyway I had recurring cysts, I had multiple surgeries to remove them and then I had Lupron depot injections. Those injections worked well and they also can do birth control pills which do help a bit.

I hope this helps . Some people will have a constant problem with them and it can become quite painful given the size they can grow to. I had one that was 8 cm by the time I had surgery….ouch.

Is there any treatment for ovarian cysts?

I have ovarian cysts and they hurt pretty bad. I get as little as one per cycle and as many as 8 per cycle. Most of the time they burst. I get this distinct sharp pain and I know a cyst has burst. There was only one time when the cyst actually grew to the size of a walnut. The doctors did absolutely nothing about it, and that one burst. That hurt so bad I cried and was in the fedle position. And earlier today I could feel pain from one. And my cycle is short, varies 19-22 days, period lasts about 4-5 days, but is extremely painful.

I’m 16. Are there any treatment options?

Most small ovarian cysts as you described will go away on their own and unfortunately most MD’s prefer not to treat them. Larger cysts can be removed surgically however, they prefer not to do surgery. Being on the Pill may prevent the cysts from forming as basically the cysts is an egg in it’s release phase. Since the pill is meant to prevent ovulation and no egg is released the cyst doesn’t form. There’s not guarantee that this will prevent them from forming. You should communicate with your GYN and request treatment options.

What are the signs of having Ovarian Cysts?

if someone could give me all the details behind ovarian cysts that would be great.

what are all the signs and things to look for?

can it be hereditary?
can it give you false positive pregnancy test and/or messed up and erratic menstral bleeding?

Symptoms of ovarian cysts: * pressure, swelling, or pain in the abdomen
* pelvic pain
* dull ache in the lower back and thighs
* problems passing urine completely
* pain during sex

Poly Cystic Ovarian Disorder can be hereditary, check with other women on both sides of your family if they’ve had trouble with their menses. Check with your doctor about this.

Has anyone had an ovarian cyst that was so bad they had to remove your whole ovary?

I am having surgery to remove an ovarian cyst from my right ovary tomorrow. My doctor has said that most likely they will have to remove at least my right ovary if not my right ovary and tube. I am only 27 I am very concerned right now about what might happen.

Has anyone every used Mary Parker’s information to get rid of ovarian cysts?

I came across a site for Mary Parker on ovarian cysts. She advocates holistic treatment and detox to get rid of ovarian cysts. Her information makes great sense, but I’m of course skeptical. Has anyone used her method, and what were the results? How carefully did you follow it?

i think a holistic approach should be the use of both western and eastern medications…depending on the size of the cyst sometimes it might require medical assistance, you can ask a fertility specialist online for free and find others going through similar situations, try fertilityties.com
good luck!!

What did your ovarian cyst feel like? Did it go away without treatment?

My period is two weeks late and I have been having dull cramps for a week now. Pregnancy test is negative and the nurse practitioner said it could be an ovarian cyst.

Ovarian cysts are a natural part of the menstrual cycle and most times dissipate on their own. I know when I did have them, the pain would hit hard and sharp, it hurt enough that I saw black in front of my eyes. I would just try to relax myself until the pain went away.

Some cysts may not dissipate and may need to be surgically removed. It is best to see your OB/GYN so that he/she can determine whether yours is still active.

Good luck.
